Max is thriving in foster care! From his foster mom: Bless him, he's the perfect dog. In the past week his energy levels have tripled and his hip pain is all but gone. His skin infection has completely cleared up, but he's still got a tiny bit of a cough. Lots more tail wagging these days, despite still taking pills and getting medicated shampoo baths!!"

GREAT NEWS!!! Max came back from his vet check this morning and he is HW NEGATIVE! He does have Kennel cough and a skin infection and is on medication to clear both up. The vet believes that he is closer to 8 years old. He has arthritis in his hip joints and he will start taking fish oil vitamins to ease the arthritis in the joint. His teeth are in poor condition, but the vet believes the discoloration is from him having distemper at a young age. He shows no neurological issues - ticks and such from having distemper though. He vet did say that he can still eat kibble and he has had no problem with it thus far.

I can sleep easier tonight know that Max is out of the shelter and in a comfy warm home! Max took a ride today to go to his new foster home! He will also have a complete Health Check and we will finally be able to give more information about his health... THANKS HEIDI AND DANNY for SPONSORING Max's HEALTH CHECK!

Stay tuned and continue to spread the word about his amazing boy!

Some amazing volunteers spent some one-on-one time with Max this last weekend. It had rained all day and was misting while we were there. Most of the outdoor dogs were wet and shivering, including Max. Please don't let him spend his last days in the shelter... especially in this cold Korean winter.

Video of Max eating what he is fed at the shelter... raw chicken including the bones.

Max is a very sweet 9 t0 10-year-old Golden Retriever. He is true to his breed and is very sweet, patient, handsome and wonderful.
He does have some unknown health conditions and we are currently looking for someone to sponsor a health check for him so we can gather more information. We do know that he is heart-worm positive.

Typically, we can expect a Golden to live to 10 or 12 years of age. Max should be enjoying his golden years in the comfort of a home; instead his old body is sleeping on the dirt ground in the Korean cold. This is no place for a senior Golden. Please consider fostering or adopting Max and bringing him out of the cold. It is possible to own a large dog in Korea. In fact, one of our volunteers writes a blog on owning a Golden Retriever in Korea and includes all information from getting around and talking with your neighbors and landlord. You can view the blog at: www.gooseinkorea.com.

If you would like more information on Max, please email me at [email protected].

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Max, please fill out (completely) the foster/adoption application located here: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application and return it to me via email.

It was cold and muddy today at the shelter, but volunteer Glenn made sure Max got out and stretched his legs!

I am so in love with this sweet boy! Someone please take him in. A sweet elderly gentleman like Max deserves to be somewhere warm and comfortable during this cold winter!!

Max is so flipping cute. My landlord here in Seoul won't allow me to take him in. So, I may have to wait until Feb. when I move into a big, dog-friendly community on the outskirts of Seoul. I hope Max can "wait" (I hate that word).

He is a gorgeous dog. We might be able to adopt him after Christmas once we move to a bigger place, if he still needs a home at that time. :)
