Description:

Percy passed away last night... We are heart-broken... Our vet thinks he had an undiagnosed heart condition. Percy was improving so much, it's hard to believe something was wrong. Poor guy went through soooooo much...

-Just added some videos : )
Percy needs a special person. Percy, short for Perseverance, has been through a lot, and I mean A LOT!! This poor guy arrived at our vet with horrific injuries- broken leg, broken jaw, major trauma to his face, and scratches/gashes all over his legs and feet. We don't know what happened, however since he was brought in by the same cat mamma that brought in Mira, also seriously injured, we wonder if someone is chasing down strays on their motorbike/scooter in their neighborhood.
Percy's face was injured so badly one of his eyes had to be removed. Half of his face/jaw was paralyzed and he had to be syringe fed for a week, but it looks like the paralysis is going away and he can eat wet food on his own (big yay!). Percy needs a loving, comfy home to speed along his recovery. He's been recovering for a couple weeks and is well enough to go to a home now. He's in such a tiny cage and seems so uncomfortable-he cries all day and seems absolutely miserable. He makes a mess of his little cage everyday because he's so uncomfortable and probably hasn't adjusted yet to seeing with just one eye. I completely believe in the healing power of TLC, so we are hoping someone will be willing to open their home to Percy and give him some love and a nice comfy place in which to get well. Please consider helping Percy by giving him a foster or forever home-he really needs/deserves a second chance.
I will add some videos soon.

Oh goodness. Poor Percy. After all he has been through, I know he is going to find an absolutely amazing home! :) It's his time to shine. :)

Hi Marla! Yes, we think he will too : ) He's such a sweet cat. He's been in so much pain with the multiple surgeries; he deserves some good things to come his way.

marlajoy's picture

Do you know at all how he is with other cats/dogs?

Amanda24601's picture

Hey Marla, I don't know for sure... However, he was living on the streets with a group of cats the cat mom was feeding and when we let Chesterton and Caldecott out Percy seems like he wants to get out of his cage and meet them- he "brrrrups" and tries to push out the door, so maybe he would be ok. We haven't let them interact yet because Chesterton and Caldecott are big boys and Percy's kind of petite and still weak.

That's definitely a good sign. I know Brody would love another cat in the family and since I've decided to make Korea my home, I figure I might as well have a balance of cats and dogs - 3 and 3. I'm not ready to make any decisions now but I'm just scoping things out a bit. :) Thanks for the information and, even more, thanks for helping him!! :)

Amanda24601's picture

Ha ha, well, whoever you do choose will be one lucky kitty, that I know^^ Hope Brody's doing better : )

marlajoy's picture

just sent you a private message about Brody. :)

Amanda24601's picture

Got it, Marla : ) Thanks so much for the update^^

Poor Percy! Thank you for saving him! Sharing on FB.

Amanda24601's picture

Thanks clare_bell! Hope he finds a home, foster or forever soon!! I feel like something good is going to happen for this guy^^

I guess its safe to assume that he doesn't have his shots?

Amanda24601's picture

Hi! The cat mom did pay for him to be neutered and she may have done the shots at the same time; I'll let you know later today : )

Amanda24601's picture

Ok, I heard back from our vet- he is still too weak for vaccinations.

Stephanie's picture

Is he able to eat on his own? If I go to school during the day, do you think he'd be able to eat on his own, or would I need to go home during lunch time to help him eat?? I live close enough to my school that walking home is no big deal...I just want to know the level of responsibility and care he requires. ~Thanks!

(Very seriously thinking about this!)

marlajoy's picture

I knew it wouldn't take long for people to be interested in him. He's the sort of guy who really touches people's hearts! :)

Amanda24601's picture

Hi Stephanie!^^ I'll try to contact our vet right now and get the rundown. He's eating wet food on his own, but let me find out how his facial paralysis is- hopefully he's doing even better now. I'll ask about his other injuries too, make sure everything is coming along ok and that he'd be alright alone during the workday. I'll be in touch! Thank you for considering helping Percy : )

Thanks so much! :)

Hi Stephanie! I JUST heard back from the vet and Percy is doing really well. He can eat wet food completely on his own and will be ok alone during the day. Percy won't need any further surgery, he just needs a comfy place to recover and restore his strength and energy : ) He is having some sutures removed from his face in a few days and that's the last of the "procedures", yay!

marlajoy's picture

Yes, YAY! :)

Stephanie's picture

Yay!! Such good news! So he would be ready for next weekend??

Amanda24601's picture

Yes, definitely!

Stephanie's picture

Alright, there's paperwork to fill out before fostering, right? I'm sorry. I can't seem to find it on the site right now, could you help point me in the right direction?? Thanks!

Amanda24601's picture

Yay!!! You want to foster Percy?! There's no paperwork for fostering, but I like to send people this link to some information about it (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/foster) just so they know their responsibilities and can decide if fostering is right for them. As long as your landlord is ok with animals, and everything in that article sounds good to you, then we'd be more than happy to send Percy home with you^^ Also, my husband visited him this morning and he has been moved to a nice large enclosure and he seems to be moving around just like a normal kitty. He should be pretty happy there for the week : )

Stephanie's picture

I just read through the page and articles...is this the best location to ask questions or is kakao?? Email?? If you have time I'd love to ask some questions...otherwise I cam totally ask here too :)

Amanda24601's picture

If you could email me that would be great! My address is [email protected].

Amanda24601's picture

Hi Stephanie, just wondering- are you're still considering Percy?

Stephanie's picture

Grrr ok so I asked my last coteacher about having a pet in my officetel a few months ago and she said it was no problem, but I'm now thinking that she never even asked in the first place. I just double-checked with my new coteacher and she says that pets aren't an option. We've been going back and forth, trying to fully figure out the situation and what's going on before contacting you with any bad news, but it looks like I'm not going to be able to help out this little baby kitty!! I'm so sorry!! And I REALLLLYYY hope he finds an amazing foster family soon!! Sorry I couldn't send more positive news...

Amanda24601's picture

Oh that stinks! But good thing that you double-checked! Hopefully he'll tug someone's heart strings real soon!

marlajoy's picture

How's Percy doing? Any changes?

Amanda24601's picture

He's doing really well! He's been moved into a nice large enclosure, and we have a foster home lined up for next weekend.

marlajoy's picture

Great news! :)
