Little Jelly has a Grade 3 Luxating Patella

Jelly is a young terrier mix from Asan. For three years she lived at the shelter. About a month ago, I was lucky enough to have her come into foster care with me. During a routine vet visit, the doctor discovered Jelly has two luxating (floating) patellas. One is grade 1 and not worth operating on. Her left however is grade 3- which quite severe according to a scale where 4 is the highest. Though Jelly shows no signs of obvious discomfort, it is very important to fix this issue. Complications when not fixed usually leads to arthritis- no young dog should have to face this. Jelly is an energetic and loving bundle of energy. She is more motivated by affection and will even ignore the of food in favor of trotting off and following me as I go from room to room in my apartment. I would love for her to have this surgery as it is the best means of ensuring she can remain active and pain free for rest of what hopefully will be a very long life.

I know that there are a lot of fundraisers at the moment. Also, with Christmas coming, many budgets are stretched to include buying gifts. However, if you have just even a little bit to spare and find it in your heart to put that towards Jelly's surgery, any amount is much appreciated. This poor girl braved the Asan winter for 3 years. It would be a wonderful Christmas gift for Jelly if we could ensure the rest of her life is more comfortable. Thank you.

Update December 20th, 2012: Jelly has been doing great in foster care. However, it has also allowed her to be more active now that she isn't in a cage. I think the increased activity is exacerbating the issue. I noticed no signs of it when I first got her and was honestly really surprised at the diagnosis. Now, hop steps are becoming more frequent and a popping noise started yesterday. I wanted to wait until the spring to schedule her surgery as I was told by some of the shelter volunteers that it is better to recover in warmer weather. Now however, I am thinking it might be better to do the surgery sooner than later. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
