We can now post images, links, and videos into comments which will make sharing information about animals and shelters easier. But there are a couple big differences I need to point out between the previous ARK forums and this new site:
Comments aren't updates
Unlike in the forums, adding a comment does not "bump" a listing to the top of the adoption listings page or prevent a listing from expiring. For that, you have to actually update a listing by clicking the "Edit" tab of the profile and then changing something: either upload an image, check/uncheck one of the characteristics, etc. If nothing has changed, you can just add "Still looking for a home" in your description field. Don't forget to click 'Save'.
Adoption and For Foster Status
It is no longer the admin and moderators who move listings to / from the Adopted gallery (previously the "Completed Adoptions" forum). Now, the author of the listing can move their own listings off of/back onto the adoptables page and, likewise, onto/off of the "For Foster" page. To do this, click the "Edit" tab of the profile, select the appropriate option for Adoption Status and check/uncheck the "Needs Foster Home" field, as the case may be.
I will be writing up more elaborate explanations and posting tips in the coming days, but I thought should point these two things out for now.
Thanks to everyone for your patience while we all adjust to the new system.
