It's been one whole year (plus a week) since Abbey moved to Canada and joined our family! This little schnauzer girl, previously known as Shimmer, Grizzle, Rose, and Kila, was rescued from KARAMA in February 2010. She was treated for heartworm disease, spent ~6 months boarding at a vet clinic, was evicted from her first foster home because of separation anxiety howling. Over three months in a second foster home and she still didn't find a forever family, so she decided to fly to Canada with a couple other dogs last December.
Since then she's made loads of human and doggy friends, had many adventures, and learned tons of stuff. Her schnauzer 'sister' has taught her to love fruits and veggies. Her Kong toy has taught her to quietly concentrate on eating when her folks are out...
Her most notable talents include: chasing rabbits and squirrels out of the backyard, sneaking fallen backyard pears into the house under her beard, and getting burrs, seeds, stickers and other small objects to magnetically attach to her beard. And she's a snuggling genius.
We love Abbey so much. Just wanted to share about all the happiness she brings us and brag a little about how smart, funny, and lovely she is :)

Love seeing her flying through the field! I remember the night I picked her up from Busan was the night Dakota was adopted, her first foster parents were both just in great big ol' tears over having to pass Abbey on. Oddly I dont remember her spending the night that much (that probably meant there was no incident like howling or barking or destruction ^^), but I remember on the ride home she was excited but then eventually settled down for a cuddle.
So glad to see her settled in. That bar code she is holding must be for those beautiful long lashes she purchased ;)

"Excited but eventually settling down for a cuddle" exactly describes what she's like! She is definitely gearing up to do more field flying soon!
You were a godsend being able to relocate her when she got evicted. It worked out for Abbey in the long run, but it was such a stressful time. Anyway, I love it when the team is able to pull through even when one of us is across an ocean :)
